‘An energised expose of racist policing in 1970s Britain’ The Guardian

Penned by 12 Years A Slave Oscar®-winning screenwriter John Ridley, Guerrilla is the hugely anticipated political drama which, following its run on Sky Atlantic, is set for its DVD and Blu-ray release on 19 June 2017, courtesy of Dazzler Media and we have two DVD copies up for grabs.

This sprawling tale of the emerging black power movement in the UK in the early 1970s stars a stellar cast including Idris Elba (The Wire), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Babou Ceesay (Free Fire), Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat), Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Daniel Mays (Line of Duty) and Denise Gough (The Fall). The story follows the growth of the black power movement in early 1970s Britain, a place where racism was commonplace on the streets and within institutions, where the National Front roamed the inner cities and the police were suspicious of all political activists.

Set against the evocative backdrop of 1970s London, Guerrilla follows two young activists Jas (Pinto) and Marcus (Ceesay) involved in the capital’s Black Power movement. Their relationship falls under intense pressure when they clash with racist police. This fictional exploration of a thought-provoking moment in history asks what might have happened if Black Power groups in the UK had turned to violence in their fight for equal rights.
