On Monday, May 2, in a ruined house planted in the hollow of a mountain, in a natural park located four hours by car from Bogota, a troupe of technicians installs the last elements of a movie set. All are here to shoot a major scene from the second season of Narcos, the Netflix series that traces the life of the famous trafficker Pablo Escobar, king of cocaine shot down by the police in 1993 after plunging the country into a violent war against drugs.

Several takes will be necessary to complete the sequence: a dispute between a cartel killer and his young wife who ends in bloody shooting. Behind the camera, the director, Andres Baiz, shows the first signs of annoyance as the hours pass. It must be said that the stakes are high: after a season 1 winning a great public success and two nominations to the Golden Globes, Narcos will be one of the most awaited series of the re-entry.

"It avoids putting too much pressure," confides the director. And then, paradoxically, we have more independence in our approach to history. The first season was about the rise of Pablo Escobar, the way he had built a drug empire. One had to remain very faithful to the real facts. Now, for this sequel, we will concentrate on his fall and his cavalier. This period, much less documented, allows us to tell more freely the character, to imagine his life when he was driven by the police, forced to hide. "

His psychology

Scheduled to be broadcast in ten episodes, Narcos' season 2 will shift from spectacular shots and explosions to a more intimate approach to the Escobar case, an Icarus of the dope that will be followed every step of the decline.

"The series will be much more psychological, confirms the actor Wagner Moura, who lends his imposing build to the famous Colombian mafia. There will be no question of the legend Pablo Escobar but of the man, the hunted animal. "Between criminal fresco way Martin Scorsese and the portrait of a fallen king, this season should keep Narcos among the most exciting series of the moment.
