Chromotherapy or color therapy is a gentle and complementary medicine that uses light to act both physically and psychologically. It uses eight colors from the three primary colors (cyan, magenta and yellow) and secondary colors (purple, orange, green ...). The colored light is then diffused or pulsed using chromotherapy lamps.

How does chromotherapy work?

We often forget that light is essential for the well-being of living beings. The wavelengths emitted by "colors" emit vibrations that influence our living cells.

Each color is not felt in the same way according to the people. To love or to hate one is indicative of our problems. This is why chromotherapists (serious) perform a color test at the beginning of any first session. With the results, they can then identify the problems and adjust the colors accordingly.

Some colors, such as warm colors, increase the energy flow and tone the tissues. Cold colors, on the other hand, slow down this flow. Neutral colors have the particularity of cleaning and draining energy while the mixed colors are regenerative, nutritive, protective and healing.

The advantage of chromotherapy is that it fits perfectly with other care and complementary care methods.

In addition, it is painless and without side effects! The results vary according to the severity of the problems but in the simplest cases like stress, an improvement is present from 5 sessions.

What is chromotherapy?

Colorful light therapy can have a beneficial effect on many things. It would be very effective alone or in addition to more traditional treatments, against stress, depression, fatigue, sleep problems, migraine, anxiety ... The treatment is usually done through the eyes, via spokes. of light sent to the level of the eyes.

It can also supplement the treatment of certain traumatological or rheumatological problems such as osteoarthritis, tendinitis, arthritis. Chromotherapy would also be useful on dermatological problems such as herpes, scars, skin aging, scars, or burns. The colored light is then directly broadcast at the area to be treated.

The limits: Chromotherapy is not a miracle solution. Especially for stopping smoking. Chromotherapy, like hypnosis or sophrology, does not stop smoking in 2 sessions.

Do chromotherapy at home, is it really effective?

Color Therapy lamps are often not powerful enough to have a real benefit on our body.

They should be kept on for several hours a day to make a profit. Only high-end, more powerful lamps (around € 400) start to have a real impact on the body.

Today, there are other methods that can be applied at home, such as PSIO glasses.
This device combines sophrology and chromotherapy. Easier to carry than a chromotherapy lamp, these glasses can be used between 5 and 30 min, on waking, at bedtime or even during a short nap.

Our opinion on PSIO glasses: by saturating us with light, we are forced to let go. At the end of a session, you feel an immediate effect of well-being. Their price remains high, 200 € in entry-level, but it is to put into perspective when you know that a session at a chromotherapist costs on average 60 €.
