Imagined in 2015 by François Lerebourg , creator of Genetics (a genealogy software that allows to create his own family tree and to make search of his ancestors through the departmental archives) and designed by the French brand of electronic products Archos , the tablet digital Facilotab is intended for seniors and reluctant vis-à-vis the internet . The goal is to simplify the use of the tablet adapted to the needs of the oldest so that they have easier access to the web and can interact with their families . Facilotab is sold with 2 guides. One for the user and one for the caregiver, because learning does not happen alone. However, it is true that at first sight, it seemed fairly easy to use.

Facilotab: a simplified tablet for seniors

The new Facilotab XXL model is equipped with a 13.3-inch screen (10.1 inches for other models) and its rectangular shape allows for an easy grip and agreeable. Moreover, it is light (1 kilo for the XXL model, 560 grams for the other 2 existing models). On the tablet, the buttons are all imaged so that the person using the device recognizes their usefulness. Once turned on, simply follow the 4 written instructions in bulk on the A4 paper visible from the opening of the package to install it quickly. To understand all the functionalities of the Facilotab tablet, the user guide is also very simplified and helps to familiarize quickly with the digital camera.
The interface is minimalist, and proposes 6 sections presented in large colored squares:
- the messages
- photos and videos
- Games
- applications
- Internet
- assistance

The tablet can be limited to a limited use, such as sending and receiving messages, or offering all of its services, such as the ability to download, via Google Play, many applications (yes even the latest news). In other words, the tablet adapts to each user . Games are already installed like Scrabble, Sudoku or games of speed to maintain memory and dexterity. And the blow of heart of this tablet is his assistance . For if the user needs help, an option in the "assistance" box allows to ask for help to a loved one. The caregiver must download the TeamViewer software (free) and can remotely control the tablet . Another support service is also offered, via technical support, but this one is paying.

Facilotab: points to improve

Even if the Facilotab tablet has been simplified, you should still keep the user guide handy if you want to understand all the features of the device. The return button for example, normally located at the bottom of the screen, often disappears, disconcerting a little at the beginning of the use. Same, during the test, this same button had the tablet crashed several times ... The problem may be only related to the model in hand. Another unfortunate subject, when you want to go to Google Play to download new applications, the path is at least tortuous ... Because to find Google Play, you have to go into the settings and then applications . We would have preferred it to be easier to reach (or pen).

Our opinion about Facilotab : Although this tablet can still improve (and lower its price), it is perfect for newcomers who want to learn the Internet and technology . And especially, who wish to correspond and share with their family.
