Storing your drawers is just a matter of habit. In her book La Magie du Rangement , Marie Kondo gives a lot of tricks to better organize her house. And, among other things, one of his key techniques is folding clothes . We explain to you how to do it, step by step.

I anticipate before stuffing everything into the drawers

The idea is to visualize what our drawer will look like once the fold is finished and all the clothes are put away. Thus, we can imagine what place will be what clothes. The goal is to find one's way as quickly as possible. Once we have found where to stack our sweaters, our t-shirts, and our jeans, we can start folding.

I put my clothes up rather than flat

As Marie Kondo explains in her book, we often tend to want to imitate the folding and storage of clothes in ready-to-wear boutiques. However, this technique is not adapted at all! Instead of making a stack of compact clothing, it is better to fold the clothes to get a rectangle, and store them in front of one another rather than on top of each other. It works well if you have a dresser, it's more complicated with shelves.

And we do not forget that each garment is different. The way of folding will therefore be adapted according to its size and its material. The simplest is to "modulate" the folding of the garment, until we find the ideal central point to fold it and store it upright in the drawer.

And now, we bend!

The technique is quite simple, in 3 steps:

  1. Fold towards the center each side of the garment in the direction of the length.
  2. Take one end of the rectangle and fold it towards the other end.
  3. Fold again in two or three.

For special clothes, there are some tips:

Tip 1: Soft clothes should fold very compactly to have a small width and a small height.

Tip 2: If you have a garment whose ends are not the same thickness, it will be easier to fold it if you hold in your hand the finest end.

So, are we testing?
