Because it's really not green, because it costs an arm (see two) or because it is not necessarily very reliable, we decided to zap the dry cleaner. At least, we tried. That is how.

The home made dry cleaning kit

Not really fairy in the soul, we just discovered the dry cleaning kits for the home, which is likely to be found everywhere, including Monoprix corner.Genuine antidote to dry cleaning for silk and other materials fragile, it simply consists of a lambda stain remover, wipes and a specific bag.

We spray the stain, slip the garment in the case provided with a small wipe, we put the dryer on a soft program at low temperature and you're done.

Machine wash

No need to scream scandal, we'll explain.

Most clothing labels recommend dry cleaning simply to avoid trouble. In reality, (almost) everything can go in machine, except express injunction of the salesman (do not hesitate besides to insist heavily on the question). Thus most meshs including wool, mohair, cashmere or sometimes even angora support without any trouble a short cold program.

Machine wash

In general, the more the fabric will result from a blend of fibers, the greater its ability to go in the machine will be strong, especially if it contains polyester, elastane and other synthetic fibers. But once again, ask for confirmation in the shop.

Once washed, dry your delicate pieces flat, in the open air, the dryer being the real enemy of your fragile clothes.

Hand washing

We admit it: nothing is more secure than washing in the sink, the old way, to avoid any clothing drama. Simply soak and knead in warm water with a little shower gel for a few minutes. Then, rinse gently at the same temperature, put on a towel to wring without wringing too much and let it dry flat. It is not complicated but it does require a minimum of time and attention.

Last but not least trick to avoid the task of pressing, think twice before drawing the blue card when the seller announces us, in a categorical tone, that our object of desire must aaaaabsolutely pass to the dry cleaner to survive. It can be designed for a little cocktail dress, but does a sweater or office pants really deserve the organization-slash-pollution that involves a change to the laundry? We prefer to think no.
