The different models of curlers

In the curlers' curl, you can find everything from the classic to the most modern, the easy or the most technical ... A short tour.

Tulle curlers are those that are fixed with a plastic or metal tip. They are best known as rollers with styling, and most of the time they are very small.

Velcro or Velcro curlers are coated with a thin layer of velcro on the outside, which allows the hair to grip well. Because of this, they are welcome for short and thick hair. To know: there is one with a handle, which will allow you to pose it with all simplicity.

For dry and fragile hair, opt for plastic or magnetic curlers. These are plastic cylinders with small holes. A fastener is needed to secure this type of curler.

If you prefer to let the rollers work while you sleep, turn to the foam rollers: they consist of a soft cylinder topped with a plastic closure that blocks the hair. Ideally, they should be used on dry hair, and are suitable for fine and fragile hair.

In the same category, to obtain pretty English curls, one finds the papillotes. Often colored, these large malleable tubes made of foam and easy to position make it possible to wind wicks of different widths. Easy and quick, but also gentle use for your hair. All the length of the tube, the wicks are wound according to the desired movement, and then each end is folded to fix. But the curler has evolved ...

Modern curlers

If you do not want to look like your grandmother and stay with your rollers on your head for hours, heated rollers could be the solution. You must heat these small metal or ceramic objects before applying them. The advantage of this technique is that the laying time is considerably reduced. However, these rollers operate on the same principle as the curling iron and thus damage the hair. In terms of novelty, you can test the magic curler: painful, but practical. With a small hook that you place at the root, you must thread the wick into the corkscrew-shaped tube that will print the movement on the wick.

What diameter to choose for curlers?

If all these models exist, it is because all sorts of loops are allowed. The diameter of the curler is decisive for the design of the loop, that is to say the diameter of the curl obtained. The smaller the diameter of the roller, the more curved the hair, and the closer the crimp will be. On the other hand, the larger the roller, the wider the effect: wavy effect, natural ripple. And you, who is your favorite?
