The State has put in place "the essentials of the new school year " to enable families with lesser purchasing power to equip their children with school supplies; it is the turn of the Agency for the Environment and Energy Management (ADEME) to provide its good advice! It is a matter of reminding parents that any act of purchase having an impact on the environment, it is essential to think twice before rushing into the supermarket pens!
Recover supplies from last year
Before buying a lot of notebooks, pens and other pairs of scissors, make sure that your child used last year is unusable ; in particular for filing cabinets, shirts, pencils, which are preferred for rechargeable models with their disposable equivalents ... Indeed, 52% of a citizen's greenhouse gas emissions come from the products he owns !

As for the schoolbag, which is the object of all the attentions of both parents and children, know that a 3 kg polyester backpack emits an average of 59 kg of CO2 . Keeping the previous year is equivalent to avoiding as many greenhouse gas emissions as a 370 km car.
Even more striking: considering the 3.2 million college students enumerated in 2008 and each buying a bag every two years, 94,400 tonnes of greenhouse gases would not be dumped into the school, atmosphere; 1.6 million backpacks, equivalent to the surface area of 28 football fields, would not be thrown away!
