To believe that the white blouses of doctors always attract as much the general public. And given the number of series that turn to the hospital sector, it's no worse ...

White blouses, stethoscopes, scalpels and hemoglobin: the universe of medicine is perhaps not the most glamorous, but it is nonetheless one of the most popular when it comes to television series. And this, whatever the era, since it has been more than 20 years that the medical series attract the public. So much so that the question becomes legitimate: what is so pleasing to viewers in the hospital field?

Torrey DeVitto, star of Chicago Med, and met by marieclaire.fr at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, may have the answer: "I think that the public knows little about the hospital sector, even if it is often they do not know what is behind it, if the doctor who saved their life has a person in his life, is happy, or "With the medical series, we can explore another facet than that of the disease, and show the backstage of the hospital." What to give food for thought ...

And it falls well: the medical series are numerous to invite themselves on the small screen at the beginning of the school year. The opportunity for us to make up our own idea.

Medical series returning to school

For the 2016-2017 season, there will be no new medical series on the program. So we console ourselves with a series already well established, and a little news, renewed for a second season.

  • Gray's Anatomy, back on September 22, 2016

Already 13 seasons that Gray's Anatomy is passionate about! The stories of Meredith Gray, Alex Karev and the others have not finished fascinating us. Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) and Martin Henderson (Nathan Riggs) told the Monte-Carlo Television Festival that the next season would contain a love triangle, and a return to basics on the original characters. That promises. In France, the sequel of season 12 should return to TF1 very soon.

  • Chicago Med, back on September 22, 2016

Spin-off from Chicago PD and Chicago Fire, Chicago Med tells the doctors' daily at the Chicago Medical Center. The strength of this series? His casting. For example, Colin Donnell (Arrow, The Affair), or Torrey DeVitto (Pretty Little Liars, The Scott Brothers). And, good news: the series arrives very soon on TF1.

Cult medical series, to see and to review

  • Emergencies is without a doubt THE cult medical series, the one that made us know George Clooney and especially, the one that made the genre very popular. The series was established on the small screen for 15 years, starting in 1994 and ending in 2009. Even today, the re-broadcasting on DTT (France 4, in particular) are very successful.
  • Scrubs is the proof that one can treat a medical series in the tone of humor. Of course, some episodes of Scrubs made us cry, but most of the time, the funny situations created by the character of JD (Zach Braff) are to die of laughter!

  • H is the medical series made in France, the one that reminds us of the beautiful era of Canal . The sitcom followed the slightly wacky atmosphere of a hospital in the suburbs of Paris, and featured actors whose reputation is no longer to be made: Jamel Debbouze, Eric Judor, Ramzy Bédia, Catherine Benguigui ... Today, the series is still broadcast daily on France Ô.
  • Private Practice has allowed us to find well-known characters, since it is the spin-off of Gray's Anatomy. It follows Addison, the ex-wife of Dereck Shepherd, who finds himself at the head of a private clinic. The opportunity to discover the character of Amelia Shepherd, Dereck's little sister and now on display at Gray's Anatomy.

  • Dr House is undoubtedly the most emblematic physician of his last years on the small screen. Incarnated by Hugh Laurie, the character is cynical, misanthropic, unconventional ... But above all, totally brilliant. The series ended in 2012, after 8 seasons that have never disappointed the fans.
