Hello strobing, bye bye contouring

The word " strobing " actually comes from " strobe " which refers to strobe light. This is a new make up technique that wants to highlight the bright parts of our face.
In other words, the strobing is the famous glowy complexion that we talk about since the parades of spring-summer 2015 and notably spotted on the parade of Issey Miyake .

The objective? Play with the natural shadows of the face by accentuating them. One then emphasizes the different volumes of the face like the edge of the nose or the cheekbones.
As with contouring, the goal is to have a radiant complexion and especially radiant. With strobing, no need for palette but just an illuminator.

For Alex Box , director of the cosmetic brand Illamasqua : "Strobing is a much more indulgent way of bringing out certain features and bringing structure to the face."
Proof that the strobing makes the buzz: this technique of makeup of the complexion already has its hashtag on the social networks: #strobing .

How do we do it?

Good news, strobing is much simpler to achieve than contouring . No need for a dozen brushes or pencils, nor palette, just have a ... illuminator !
It is chosen for a lighter shade than its foundation and is placed on the areas that naturally catch the light, ie zone T, cheekbones or eyebrows .
Result: the face is structured and the complexion naturally appears brighter.

But beware, not everyone can get into the strobing. For a natural and elegant result, a perfectly hydrated skin is obligatory. If the skin is oily, the result will not be optimal or even pretty!
