A man who watches you through the window of your room at night while you sleep is rather scary, right? So why when it's Edward Cullen aka Twilight's sexy vampire, do we find that normal?

Romcoms trivialize harassment

A recent study by researchers at the University of Michigan tends to prove that "romantic" films would trivialize intrusive behavior: from heavy dredging to harassment. Thus, under the guise of telling beautiful romance stories, romcoms would lead to an acceptance of aggressive male behaviors and a tolerance towards these stalkeurs. If for the cinematographic needs that help the narrative, it is funny that Ben Stiller hires a private detective in Mary A Tout Prix to regain his childhood love, in real life it would come (almost) from harassment.

A team led by Julia R Lippman, an expert on human relations and sexuality at the University of Michigan, wanted to know what were the effects of romantic comedies on cinematographic viewers: they studied the response of women to questions about the aggressive loving behavior, after having made them see extracts of romcoms. Result? "After watching excerpts from six films, the participants responded to a series of questions that assessed their relationship to the heavy dredge but also to" tracking down ". The messages delivered in these films very clearly minimize the impact of these dangerous behaviors, while lowering the safety reflexes in these women ".

Bollywood is experiencing the same

On reflection, the Beast simply sees Belle, the time she falls in love with him while Richard Gere stalks the whole life of Julia Roberts to approach him in Just Married or Almost, and even in Target, Matt Bomer and Tom Brady wire-tapping Reese Witherspoon and placing cameras in his apartment. Special mention to Hitch, in which Will Smith learned squarely from his "pupils" to spy on the women of their dreams to better tame them.

Hollywood is not alone in conveying such a trivialization, its Indian counterpart faces the same drifts. Last January, a 32-year-old Indian security guard managed to escape from prison in Australia. The reason ? His lawyer cited the boy's passion for Bollywood movies which - he said - explained his aggressive behavior towards women.
