That's it, we start, we'll have our twink, our doggie or any other beast covered with hair, feathers or even scales! It remains to determine where to get his pet: shelter or pet store? Adoption or purchase? What are others doing?
A study conducted by the Wamiz website with its community of pet owners reveals that most homeowners are in favor of adoption rather than purchase when it comes to choosing a four-legged roommate. Thus, 45.5% of respondents prefer to adopt a pet via a shelter or association . Pet stores have a very bad image since only 0.9% trust them. Those who choose to adopt through a shelter or association are 85% to have made this choice to save the life of an animal.

Other motivations for adoption in association:

- Less veterinary fees due to sterilization and vaccination and the installation of flea already made by the association (3.7%)
- the already known nature of the animal (3.4%)
- Lack of confidence in pet stores (1.9%)
- Limited adoption cost (1.8%)

However, many are still hesitant to adopt in a shelter. Among their reasons:

- 33% wanted a purebred animal
- 30% adopted an animal donated by a relative
- 14% feared behavioral problems
- 10% did not find any animal that matched them

To overcome this, many associations have implemented an application to facilitate adoptions. Wamiz has launched the "Adopt Me" app to help associations and find families for residents of partner associations.
