The owners of "dangerous" dogs, that is to say of attack or of guard and of defense, have until December 31 to receive a training course issuing a license of detention for this type of animal. In a statement issued on Wednesday (October 28th), the Ministry of Agriculture recalled that the dog masters known to the town halls for having already bitten a person or to represent a danger are also concerned by this course.

The teachers concerned can consult the list of trainers authorized to issue the license of detention via the town halls and the prefectures. At the owner's expense, the training course includes a seven-hour training program, which includes a program on canine education and behavior as well as accident prevention.

In order to obtain their license for first and second category dogs, teachers must provide, inter alia, the identification and rabies vaccination of their animals, the behavioral evaluation of the dog issued by an authorized veterinarian and the document proving sterilization of the animal for first-class dogs.

The dogs of the first category, so-called attack, are the pit bulls and the American Staffordshire terrier. The second category is suitable for Rottweilers.
