"N ° 19", Miss Chanel's olfactory testament

The "N ° 19" was created in 1970 by Henri Robert, Chanel's second perfumer after Ernest Beaux who created the famous "N ° 5". Mademoiselle Chanel had ordered a new perfume for her birthday on August 19th. The perfumer offered her several scents and she chose the most original, which included strong green notes and a pronounced iris fragrance. The company Chanel feared that the "N ° 19" smothers the "N ° 5", but the perseverance of Miss Chanel finally pay because the two perfumes coexisted perfectly. A few months after the launch of this last stroke daring, Gabrielle Chanel died. The "N ° 19" is still marketed today in its sleek and elegant bottle, a trademark of the seamstress.

"No. 19", an agreement of precious irises

Chanel's "N ° 19" perfume is based on strong iris notes. This flower comes traditionally from Florence in Italy, but in recent years, Chanel has grown directly to Grasse. To this rare and precious material are added chypre notes of vetiver wood and earthy notes of galbanum. This woody background extends the sensuality and warmth of the iris leaving a strong wake behind it. This very expensive essence brings softness and a sweet powdery effect to the perfume. As a nod to "No. 5", we also find aldehydes in mind.

"N ° 19", a perfume classic

In 1970, Chanel's "N ° 19" was aimed at young, bold women like Gabrielle Chanel who did not shrink from avant-gardism. It symbolized spontaneity and momentum towards life while maintaining simplicity and elegance. Although today, he has lost some of his provocative verve, he has aged very well and has become a classic of French perfumery. The feminine and refined print of the "N ° 19" has attached an elegant and faithful clientele.
