"Arpège" by Lanvin: more than a perfume, an emblem!

Created in 1889 by seamstress Jeanne Lanvin, the couture house Lanvin is quickly noticed for its creations in the air of time. Marguerite, the daughter of the founder, who is the sole pupil of her, is a source of inspiration for her: she then creates a vast collection of children's fashion. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of her daughter, Jeanne Lanvin commissioned a new creation for perfumers Paul Vacha and André Fraysse. It is Marguerite herself who baptizes the perfume: by discovering it for the first time, she exclaimed indeed "It looks like an arpeggio." "Arpège" is a fragrance that is part of the family of aldehydes flowers. It is built around notes of rose, jasmine, honeysuckle and lily of the valley on a tuberose background. An "impeccable modernity", as the writer Colette, a great friend of Jeanne Lanvin, likes to say. The bottle is also modern and very chic, like the perfume: a black ball surmounted by a golden cap. A gold motif decorates the bottle: it is a representation of the mother and her daughter, drawing of Paul Iribe who will quickly become the emblem of the house Lanvin. This fragrance marks the history of perfumery, and will inspire other creations in the years 1950, 1960 and 1970, such as "Madame Rochas" of Rochas, or "Rive gauche" of Yves Saint Laurent. In those years, Lanvin also released several new creations: "Monsieur Lanvin" and "Vetyver" in 1964, "Lanvin for Men" in 1979, "Lanvin l'homme" in 1997 ...

Fragrances in tune with the couture spirit of the Lanvin house

2005 marks the release of "Arpège pour homme", 78 years after the great classic of the house. It features the sober, elegant design of the brand, with a square bottle decorated with a black circle, a nice nod to the bottle of "Arpège" ball. Inside, a mysterious and warm fragrance where notes of jasmine, nutmeg, iris and maté are developed on a very oriental background composed of vanilla, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka bean and precious wood. In 2008, the nose Anne Flipo pays homage to the seamstress by dedicating her new creation, which she simply baptizes "Jeanne Lanvin". In 2011, Lanvin launches "avant garde", another masculine perfume in the same family of oriental woods . Around pepper and pink berries, one finds a spicy heart and sublimated by lavender and beeswax, on a background of tobacco, amber and wood; a fragrance very in phase with the fashion dandy chic imagined by Alber Elbaz, artistic director of the house Lanvin. In 2013, Lanvin unveils "Me", a fruity floral fragrance designed by Domitille Bertier with Alber Elbaz. The bottle is decorated with a black cabochon surrounded by a gold chain; the sewing spirit of the Lanvin house is never very far.
