Every year it's the same: with the changes of season, you lose your hair by handles! This hair loss, which is said to be seasonal, is actually a reactionary hair loss.

Punctual, transient and not serious, it can affect everyone at each change of season.

Losing your hair: a normal phenomenon

We reassure you, losing a little of his hair every day is normal: between 25 and 60 hair fall daily from our head. To understand this phenomenon, it is important to know the "life cycle of the hair"

Indeed, the latter pass through an anagen phase (shoot), which lasts between 2 and 5 years for a man and 5 to 7 years for women, and a telogen phase (rest) lasting 3 months . Then, the hair falls, pushed by the regrowths. A new anagen phase begins. And so on.

On the other hand, when the fall concerns more than 100 hairs in the day, it seems to lose more than usual and they fail everywhere (pillow, clothing, car headrest ... ), it's time to worry about it.

Spot a seasonal hair loss

It usually occurs when spring and fall begin.

It can be caused by several external factors.

In the summer, our hair is exposed to the sun, sea water and sand and at the end of the winter, the fatigue accumulates, the sun's rays are amplified.

As a result, the hair hardly supports these changes and begins to fall.

What are the causes of seasonal (or reactive) hair loss?

  • A change in brightness that affects our hormones.
  • A particular or unusual event: fatigue, stress, pregnancy, diet (with significant nutritional deficiency), psychological shock.
  • The use of unsuitable products. For example, different products can be used in summer, which are no longer suitable for autumn.
  • The presence of impurities in the scalp that "clog" the follicles (dandruff, residues such as sand).

Good actions to stop hair loss

The ideal is to consult a specialist, who through a questionnaire and a thorough diagnosis can attest to the reaction, and therefore temporary, the fall.

This interview then makes it possible to find the best specific anti-fall care adapted (shampoo, conditioner, mask, ampoules) to strengthen the hair fiber and boost microcirculation in the scalp.

Finally, the advice that applies in normal times are always relevant in case of seasonal fall: we brush her hair every day, we rinse with cold or warm water and we practice scalp self-massage for restart the microcirculation in the hair follicles.

Dietary supplements to the rescue

Faced with the phenomenon, we favor foods and dietary supplements rich in vitamins A, E, F and B (B4, B5, B6, B8), fatty acids and trace elements such as copper, iron and magnesium.

Amino acids are also excellent: methionine and cysteine, which are part of the composition of keratin, help prevent hair loss, arginine promotes their growth and glutamine helps strengthen them.

On the menu: fish, wheat germ powder, eggs, chicken, dark chocolate, legumes, oils (olive, flax, nuts ...), almonds, oysters, spirulina, soy protein.

How long does a seasonal hair fall?

No more than three months. Beyond that, it may be a progressive hair loss installed. In this case, it is necessary to consult again a specialist, a dermatologist at first, or to go to an institute specialized in the treatment of hair problems.
