Computer, TV, stereo, induction hob, coffee maker ...

In standby mode, these devices represent a power consumption of 300 to 500 kWh / year, ie 33 to 55 € 1.
What can be done : the most gourmet accessory is the "Internet box", which displays 8,766 hours of watch, equivalent to a small light bulb. Connecting to a power strip equipped with a switch button saves 29 € 2. A plug that detects and disconnects unused devices is up to 10% saving on the electricity bill.

The clothes dryer. It consumes almost three times more than a washing machine (480 kWh / year vs. 169 kWh / year).

What can be done : as soon as the washing is done, it is spin-dry at more than 1,000 rpm to minimize drying time by 12 to 20 minutes. And / or you reserve the dryer to the large rooms (bed linen, bath towel) without guilt: to extend its linen inside is not greener since the heating is often mounted to evaporate the water.

Fridge, oven, dishwasher ... The share of appliances on our bill is now twice as large as heating.

What you can do : you increase the temperature of the fridge a little: at 5 ° C you consume 20% less than 2 ° C. The radiator is switched off in the kitchen, at least when it is in the oven, because letting the temperature rise to 23 ° C instead of 18 ° C in the room increases the electricity consumption of the fridge by 38%.

Hot water production. It accounts for about 18% of our energy consumption.

What can be done : by lowering the temperature of the water heater from 60 to 50 ° C, one reduces its electricity rating by 10% or 88 € 4.
