"Aromatics Elixir", the flagship perfume of the brand Clinique

The Clinique brand was launched in 1968 by businesswoman Estée Lauder and by Carol Philips, then editor-in-chief of the magazine "Vogue", in the United States. The idea is to offer the Americans a range of care, beauty and makeup products for the most sensitive skin. Developed by dermatologists, all products are fragrance free and tested against allergies. There are ranges for each type of skin. At the beginning of the 1970s, the brand decided to launch "more than a perfume", and collaborated for this with the perfumer Bernard Chant. The result: "Aromatics Elixir", an eminently sensual feminine juice, around patchouli, vetiver, frankincense, myrrh and benzoin, all in a very sober bottle. The perfume is surprising because it goes against the image a little sanitized and very "clinical" brand. The success is immediate in the United States but also in France. The perfume remains until 2010 the product of the most sold brand, all categories combined. In the 1980s and 1990s, Clinique continued its momentum by launching several new fragrances. In 1984, she sold her first men's fragrance, "Tailoring", and in 1990, "Wrappings". Four years later "Chemistry", a fresh and spicy masculine fragrance, built around notes of lavender, mint, lemon, coriander, ginger ...

Clinic, "effective" perfumes

In 1998, Clinique launched "Happy", a fragrance created by Jean-Claude Delville, which quickly became a success. The concept is precise: to propose a perfume that develops the joy of life, the happiness, the fullness. The spirit of the Clinique brand is always present: fragrances, like beauty products, have to be effective. Result: a sparkling and sensual composition, which combines pink grapefruit, orange, exotic flowers and melon in an elegant and modern bottle. 1999 then marks the launch of "Happy for Men", a variation of "Happy" to the masculine. This original fragrance develops a marine note of oyster associated with mandarin and lime, on a background of cedar wood, guaiac, cypress and white musks. In 2004, Raymond Matts created "Simply", a fragrance with a very simple but luminous and warm composition. It combines the smoothness of soy milk with white flowers on a background of smoked wood. In 2013, the brand decided to decline its mythical "Happy" in a version even more sparkling, lively and fresh: "Happy in Bloom", limited edition. This fresh, natural, fruity and very green fragrance is perfect for summer.
