In 2011 the European Congress of the Society of Cardiologists , heart health professionals warned of the increasing number of deaths of women due to cardiovascular diseases . They wish to remind the female population, the dramatic consequences of a stressful lifestyle, mixing alcohol, tobacco, sedentary and oral contraception.

At present, cardiovascular diseases account for 11.6% of all deaths in women under 50 years of age, compared to 3.7% in 1995 . If these pathologies were formerly reserved mainly for men, today women are as exposed as their male counterparts , the latter having adopted the same pace and often the same (bad) habits as they.

Good to know

- Small or large smoker, the risk is always present since even if a woman smokes "only" 3 to 4 cigarettes a day, she is exposed 3 times more than a non-smoker to a myocardial infarction . The risks are also multiplied by 3 if it combines pill and tobacco daily.
- The first signs of an infarction result in nausea, heart palpitations, sweating and severe abdominal pain.
