We thought we were gifted for that. Love wine, choose it and appreciate it. It was so French. Only, patatras, a survey conducted for the last issue of the magazine Terre de vins * crushes this beautiful image of Epinal. Indeed 71% of French people admit not knowing about wine (43% not at all). If the wine is well inscribed in the gastronomic patrimony of France , at the request of the Senate, since last March, real progress remains to be done so that we really appreciate this drink.

- The good wine revealing social inequalities. Red, white, rosé ... according to the same Viavoice survey, the majority of French people (78%) agree with the idea that wine is a rich heritage, especially culinary, for the country. However, these results also show that the social environment is a factor in the appreciation of wine. While 43% of executives and liberal professions say they know about wine , among workers, they are more than 16% (and 20% among employees).

- Enology for all, but how? The figures in this survey remind us that the world of good wine is often perceived as very closed . And that one can penetrate there only at the beginning of courses of initiation to the oenology to understand the grape varieties, the grounds ... the language also. Not to mention the price of the bottles. In short, appreciating (and buying) a good wine would be elitist. Not false. There are, however, many sources of information to discover the world of wine , such as guides, games boxes (Universe of wine Sentosphere ...), box subscription (MyVitibox, Three times wine, etc.) and evenings meeting with the winemakers in some wine bars, bistros or wine shops. Finally, there is nothing like meeting vine growers directly in the vineyards , according to our wanderings. It is often there that we discover very good wines at low prices .

Survey conducted from May 28 to 30, by telephone, with 1015 people.

The magazine Terre de Vins, in newsstands every 2 months (6 euros) decided to make "the education and support of young people towards a responsible consumption, a priority".
