The inspirations of spring-summer 2016

If we had to retain a main inspiration for the spring-summer 2016 collections, it would certainly be the night. Tuxedos, evening dresses, but especially long nightgowns, bathrobes and pajama shirts: the entire night cloakroom was revisited during the last fashion shows. Other trends identified: the urban quickdraw of the 90s rehabilitated among others by Alexander Wang and finally very close to sportswear, reviewed and corrected by Public School Stella McCartney. Neither will Lanvin's neo grunge neighties, and more contemporary at Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton. In Paris, we even went back to the 60s, as well in version yéyé as seen at Courrèges and Carven in version "baba cool" to Chloe. We will also remember the exotic destinations in which we took Isabel Marant, Valentino or Tommy Hilfiger but also the return to the Victorian era of Erdem in London and Alexander McQueen in Paris.

Spring-summer 2016 trends

If lace, veil, silk are naturally present in the spring-summer collections, the leather is a remarkable breakthrough. It has been spotted on croco tops at Altuzarra but especially in total look at Ralph Lauren, JW Anderson, Fendi, Céline or Nina Ricci. The list is far from being exhaustive. Another surprise for a spring-summer fashion week: furs seen at TopShop, Miu Miu and Saint Laurent. In addition, deer remains a strong spring trend, as seen at Victorian Beckham and Balmain.

Spring-summer 2016 fashion prints

Not surprisingly, the floral print remains the dominant print for the summer season. The printed exotic strands remain a safe bet as with Kenzo, Temperley or Paul & Joe. However, Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney have seen tiles, regular stripes at Prada and Dior, eighties at JW Anderson and MaxMara, and leopard at Versus Versace and Topshop Unique. Small mention also to the peas Topshop that have made their little effect.

Trendy pieces from spring-summer 2016

The bomber jacket:

Rehabilitated in recent seasons, the bomber will be more than ever present next summer. Feminized at Victoria Beckham and Boss, he remains very masculine at most creators like Anthony Vaccarello for Versus Versace and Rag & Bone.

The kimono:

Spotted at the Diane Von Furstenberg fashion shows, Martin Margiela and Jonathan Saunders, the kimono returns this summer, both long and short, but especially worn with a thin belt to structure the silhouette.

The long nightie:

Givenchy, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez, Calvin Klein, Burberry or Céline: there are countless collections spring-summer 2016 that rehabilitated the nightie as a dress in itself. In silk or lace, white or black, it will be next season a highly desirable piece.

The top Bardot:

Next summer, your shoulders will show you. Such seems to be the credo of American creators who made the top Bardot the inevitable of the beautiful season, from Prabal Gurung to Proenza Schouler via Preen by Thornton Bregrazzi and Chloe.

The fishnet top:

Love it or not, the top fishnet will probably be part of the trends of spring-summer 2016. Festive and exotic at Tommy Hilfiger, it takes grunge airs at Alexander Wang and Louis Vuitton. It only remains to choose.

The cropped top

Short sweater at Michael Kors and Dior or simple tank top cut at Alexander Wang, the cropped top will denude our bellies next summer, no offense to fans of oversize t-shirt. When we tell you that 2016 will be the new 1996.

The bra:

Ultra chic at Erdem or basic at Jacquemus, the bra becomes a simple headband that covers the skin. Hidden under an open blazer as at Versace or accompanied by simple sleeves at Oscar de la Renta, it will definitely be unavoidable next summer. Our favorite? The retro metalized version of Dries Van Noten, worn on a long-sleeved t-shirt, looks like nothing.

The cut top at the shoulders:

Another vestige of the 90s that comes back to haunt our summer: the top cut shoulders, spotted Proenza Schouler shows and Givenchy in New York and the podiums of Erdem and Pringle of Scotland in London. In Paris, we saw him on the Louis Vuitton podium.

The panties skirt

Ultra wide, the wide culotte skirt makes a comeback on the podiums, from J.Crew to Dries Van Noten.

The striped tailor:

Unstructured, redecutted, very wide or very curved: the striped suit of the 90s returns this summer in a new light especially at DKNY, Jacquemus and Givenchy. What to renew our office outfits with style.

The silk pajama shirt:

Another night item that comes into our day locker room: the pajama shirt. Silk and especially oversize, she was seen including Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone and Pringle of Scotland. We love Dolce & Gabbana's "Dolce Vita" green version.

The sleeveless jacket:

A perfect match for staying cool even when it's hot: the long sleeveless jacket is a spring-summer 2016 statement, as spotted by Calvin Klein, Jason Wu and Boss in New York, at Erdem and Mary Katranzou in London

The summer parka:

Given the vagaries of the weather, the creators have planned everything and we offer thin and light parkas for the spring-summer 2016, including Lacoste, Topshop, Public School and Phillip Lim. It is found in ultra chic version at Dior, Balenciaga and MaxMara.

The dress with ruffles:

For our summer nights, we can dare the dress ruffle as proposed by Jason Wu coral acid version or in retro fashion at Zimmerman and Alexander McQueen. British designers like JW Anderson and Mary Katranzou have not hesitated to adorn their flying dresses and other romantic details. The most bling-bling? Balmain's, tight from head to toe.

The midi skirt:

Like this winter, the midi skirt continues its fashion rehab as it has been spotted on all New York fashion shows and shows, from Zac Posen to J.Crew, Altuzarra and Victoria Beckham. A sure value therefore, on which it will not be necessary to bet.

The tuxedo :

Fuller, more casual: the black tuxedo will be one of the masterpieces of our evenings of the next spring-summer. Minimalist at Jason Wu, ultra-chic at Givenchy, he is customized embroidered patch at Dolce & Gabbana. There will be something for everyone.

The skirt and the slit dress:

Although this trend certainly concerns more celebrities than us, poor mortals, slit dress and skirt are some of the important trends of next summer. It's simple, we've seen it everywhere, whether in New York, Milan or London. But the most outrageous remain those identified in Paris, Anthony Vaccarello and Saint Laurent to name a few

The lace dress:

What would the spring-summer trends be without the lace dress? More romantic than ever with Monique Lhuillier and Burberry, she becomes an instrument of seduction at Givenchy and DKNY.

The one shoulder dress:

Vestige of the 90s, the asymmetrical dress with a single strap operates a return in force including Roberto Cavalli, Marc Jacobs or Giorgio Armani. Ideal to play the femme fatales especially when it is presented in red, like at Elie Saab.

Bermuda shorts:

Delicate at Dior, bling at Dries Van Noten, the bermuda regains its acclaim next spring-summer.

Trendy shoes from spring-summer 2016

Platform sandals:

Voluminous and thick, the sandals will be displayed in their most minimalist, almost futuristic day at Victoria Beckham, Fendi or Public School . Mounted on platforms, they usually form a single thick band, like pool clappers, or two crossed bands like at Temperley London, Burberry and Paul Smith. Special mention for models Chanel and Alexander Wang who may sell like hotcakes.

The flat mules:

In leather at Victoria Beckham, lace at Balenciaga, the flat mule may well become the it-shoes next summer. We keep our radar in standby.

The Spartans:

At Temperley, Erdem and Alberta Ferretti, the Spartans remain very thin with thin strips that are attached throughout the legs. Conversely, Kenzo and Elie Saab offer massive, gladiator mode. Between these two extremes, the APC brand has found a good compromise with removable leggings that we add to his flat sandals.

Summer boots:

Spotted especially on the English catwalks, the boots seem to become a safe summer spring. In leather at JW Anderson, we find them in "cage" version with open ends at Burberry and Peter Pilotto and in python at Christopher Kane. The most bankable remain those imagined by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, transparent flexible plexi.

The sneakers :

No more chic sneakers, the massive 90s sneakers are back. We wear them with an evening dress at Marc Jacobs, a tailor at DKNY or outright with a destroyed outfit at Alexander Wang. We also like to associate them with a dress in mesh or leather as at Missoni and Hermes.

The trendy accessories of spring-summer 2016

Oversized earrings:

In Italian designers, the earring is pop and especially oversize as we have seen in Prada and Marni.

The bob and the cap:

Spotted at BCBG Max Azria, Tommy Hilfiger and Alexander Wang, the bob operates an astonishing coming back. The fault of the return of the 90s ? Certainly. We will opt instead for the bell version of Jil Sander, just to play it Brigitte Bardot or the cap in reverse of Chanel.

The belt :

Whether it is there to carelessly close a kimono at Jonathan Saunders or structure a long dress at Oscar de la Renta, the belt remains our best fashion ally next summer. An accessory to get emergency so.

The backpack

Burberry show's flagship piece, the backpack continues its fashion rehab. With a minimalist design, it comes mainly in black leather to ensure its chic appearance. We are ready to bet that we will see in a few weeks on the back of all celebrities.

Trendy colors of spring-summer 2016

Black and white:

In New York, many creators have chosen to decline their entire collection in a black and white fashion as Zac Posen and Givenchy. We will also remember the last collection of Alexander Wang for Balenciaga , entirely immaculate white. A bold bias that will not fail to inspire us throughout the summer.

The orange:

Coral, tangerine, pastel: the color orange is endless, whether at Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung Ralph Lauren. What vitaminer our summer.

Blue :

Ultra-bright, the blue has been invited into the spring-summer collections of many New York designers, from Michael Kors to Monique Lhuillier through Chanel, Dior and DKNY.

The green :

Sometimes khaki, sometimes bottle: the green will bring a touch "wild" to our spring outfits that it is in the collections of Philip Lim, Céline and Nina Ricci.
