The keys to a healthy home? Have a breathable air indoors. Indoor pollution is 2 to 8 times higher than outdoor, a figure that can be explained by the number of harmful products we use (scented candles, synthetic perfume, odor-destroying bomb, tobacco ...). To counter this, there are new devices such as air purifiers, humidifiers and air dehumidifier.

What is an air humidifier?

An air humidifier is used to humidify a room where the air is too dry. It is considered that the ambient air must contain between 40 and 60% of humidity , above or below, this generates daily troubles (fatigue, colds, dry mucous membranes ...). It is used in homes that are too dry in winter due to heating or in summer when the heat is high. An air humidifier has the power to humidify an ambient air, it plays the role of water basins placed under the radiators by our grandmothers when we were small.

How it works ?

The air humidifier mainly uses 2 techniques:

- by evaporation :

With cold steam , the filters are soaked with water which is then sent into the room through a ventilation system. Bottom, the bacteria are trapped in the filter and diffuse with evaporation.

With hot steam , the water boils and is released as vapor in the air. Watch out for the children.

- Ultrasonic : Very silent, with hot or cold steam, the ultrasonic air humidifiers consist of a metal membrane that vibrates thanks to high frequency sound waves. Use with distilled water to avoid limescale.

For maintenance :

It is better to avoid letting the water stagnate at the bottom of the tank or you will see allergenic molds develop. You have to think about emptying it from time to time and changing filters regularly. A descaling shot once a month is also recommended for the maintenance of the air humidifier.

What is really an air humidifier?

The air humidifier intervenes in a room, often the room, and helps to breathe better. It is mostly used in children's rooms at night to relieve the small when it is cold or its bronchi are congested. Air humidifiers usually cost less than 150 euros but the price may increase depending on the technology used. Equipped with a hygrometer , to calculate the humidity level and start when it is too low, the humidifier is suitable for all those with a dry interior.
