A US-Israeli study shows that with at least 2 cups of coffee a day, the rate of colorectal cancer decreases . This study carried out on fairly large groups (around 10,000 people in total) thus reveals that coffee drinkers are less likely to develop colon cancer.   It is the third most common cancer in France. Colorectal cancer affects 42,000 people each year in France, including 1,900 women. Plus it is detected early (to the épistage is routinely offered to 50 every 2 years), it is best treated. How to avoid it? We know that a diet rich in fiber (found in fruits and vegetables) reduces the risk of developing colon cancer. But this new US-Israeli study, published in the scientific journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention , could also push for the appearance of coffee on the list of anti-cancer foods .

The more coffee you drink, the better

- According to this new study, drinking 1-2 cups of coffee a day reduces the risk of cancer by 26% compared to those who drink less frequently.

- And the risk of colon and rectal cancer is even halved if you go to 2.5 cups of coffee a day .

Even deca protects against colon cancer

Surprisingly, researchers have shown that the risk of colorectal cancer is reduced by drinking coffee, regardless of coffee. Espresso coffee, filter coffee or even decaf: same benefit!

Antioxidants, the key to colorectal protection?

If deca also protects us against colorectal cancer , one thing is certain: it is not caffeine that plays this protective role. Caffeine is an antioxidant whose role, in theory, is to protect our cells. But, she is not alone in the coffee to play this role. The polyphenols in coffee are also antioxidants . They could play this protective role vis-à-vis colorectal cancer. Other molecules active in coffee, whatever its form, could also contribute to the good health of the intestine. Decidedly, they will need liters of coffee to researchers to discover by what mechanisms coffee wants us good ...
