Think big, you will become great

This is the perfect summary of the career of Ray Kroc, a merchant who, in the 1950s, is preparing to make the meeting that will change his life: that of the McDonald brothers, owners of a burgers restaurant in California. Bluffed by their concept, Ray offers them to franchise the brand and will take hold of it to build the empire that we know today. So inevitably, looking at his life summarized in 115 minutes, I learned a lot. And especially :

  • How to dream

At 52, Ray Kroc is a sales representative who strives to make a living by making daily sales while traveling across the Midwest. Its flagship product: the Multi-mixer with five mixers. But it is clear that Ray is not fully expanded by his professional career. And to the dismay of his wife, Ethel, Ray can not help but dream and tries every day to reinvent himself. And of course, the future will prove that he was not wrong to believe in his dreams ...

  • That we must persevere

Well, of course, having dreams is not enough to become a billionaire. What Ray Kroc taught me (although I already suspected it) is that you also have to believe in it, but above all, have the courage to believe it. In a word, to persevere. And even at 52 years! Because as Ray Kroc says so well "the important thing is to win". All right. Everyone's vision of things. But let us admit that the victories are still more pleasant than the failures.

  • That you must be hungry

Ray Kroc does not want to sell a Multi-Mixer, he wants to sell a thousand. Ray Kroc does not want to franchise a McDonalds, he wants to franchise millions. In other words, Ray Kroc is not only hungry, he is never satisfied. Is it "too" ambitious? His wife will not tell you otherwise. That said, its $ 700 million in annual revenue either.

  • That one must be in agreement with oneself

But there. After 115 minutes spent analyzing the life of Ray Kroc and my own life, that's what I wonder. Be pitiless, really? Winning, no matter what? "Business is war" hammers Ray Kroc. As a result, I am no longer very sure of being so hungry and wanting to win so much. Because, in fact, to build such an empire, Ray necessarily made choices. Good, then worse ... Finally, from the point of view of someone loyal.

Business is war

So finally, does "succeeding one's life" really have to go hand in hand with getting rich? Personally and financially? And this, whatever it costs? Not sure. I think the important thing is to be able to look at each other in its pretty mirror every morning. And in my opinion, not sure that Ray Kroc had one in his bathroom!
