The sponge, for a simplified application

The sponge is the asset of those who are pressed in the morning, and make up makeup in a few minutes while drinking their coffee. Easier to handle than the brush, it guarantees a uniform application in a few gestures. The most practical are spherical sponges, which are often embedded on a handle. These are also the ones that bring the most natural rendering. The sponge is ideal for applying the mattifying foundations, sometimes a little thick: just moisten it slightly before application, and the product spreads evenly on the skin. Only disadvantage of the sponge: it absorbs part of the product. The bottle is emptied faster! To take into account, if your favorite foundation is a little expensive ... Also, the sponge has a life span shorter than the brush. Of course, it is easily cleaned with hot water. Nevertheless, as a hygienic measure, it is advisable to change regularly. Prefer the sponges of good quality, natural rubber rather than polyester, which remain firm and clean longer.

The different types of brushes to apply the foundation

With liquid foundations, moisturizing fluid type, or foam, it is recommended to use a wide, flat brush. Some foundations are sold with their custom brush, the shape of which matches the density of the product perfectly. The foundation is applied by small touches on a few key points in the center of the face (forehead, nose, chin, corners of the mouth and cheekbones). Then we spread out. The application is relatively easy, and natural rendering. Compact foundations are more covering. They are applied with a Kabuki brush, with broad rounded hairs or a puff. The gesture must be more ample: on one side of the face, one draws a three starting from the forehead, returning towards the nose, then skirting the jaw. There is nothing left but to repeat the operation on the other half of the face. Do not hesitate to repeat several times the brush without product on the face, to standardize the application.

Apply your foundation with your fingers

Applying to the finger will delight the lazy who do not want to clean their brushes daily. It is also the most hygienic method: hands (clean) contain much less bacteria than a brush or sponge, even properly cleaned. As for the application itself, it is above all a matter ... of fingering! On the one hand, with fingers, it is easier to spread the product in hollow areas, such as around the nose, or at the root of the hair. However, it is necessary to better blend, the application to the finger is therefore a little longer. To better spread the foundation, it is first necessary to heat it in the hollow of the palm. Then, it is necessary to proceed by light tapping on the whole face.
