Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be heading to Chelsea before the transfer window closes on Thursday, reports have claimed.

The Gunners have been fighting to keep hold of the midfielder, who has started every game this season, and Arsene Wenger has always maintained he figures in his plans going forward and will not be sold.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain is reported to have turned down a new deal worth £180,000 and has told Gunners officials he wants to move on before the deadline, and it looks as though they will not stand in his way.

The England international is out of contract this time next year, and Arsenal are now ready to take the £35million on offer to let him move across London to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool and Manchester City could also come into the reckoning after being linked this summer, and a bidding war could push the transfer fee closer to £40million.

It looks like being a busy week for Chelsea with Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater also reported to be on Antonio Conte’s wanted list.
