Behind their poetic name hides a secret of ancestral beauty. The floral waters have indeed many benefits, that we expose Claire Pelé, director of research of the laboratory Bio Sanoflore.

A pioneer in this field, the brand has conducted numerous studies to prove the benefits of these hydrolats and now operates with conviction and passion these natural raw materials a forgotten time.

What is floral water?

Floral water is a raw material, derived from the distillation of plants or flowers. This gentle method makes it possible to recover in particular the essential oil of a plant thanks to a still. "When you smell a flower, it's the essential oil it contains that emits its smell," says Claire Pelé.

"We were therefore interested in the olfactory properties of the floral waters, but also to their virtues for the skin". In the still, the temperature at 100 ° converts the water into water vapor, which allows the recovery of essential oils. Once cooled, the recovered water is loaded with active molecules - it has been separated from the essential oil; it is a hydrosol.

It is also the trend of home cosmetics that has made this term familiar. In the end, a floral water is a hydrosol that we sublimate, cosmetically speaking. "This makes it possible to offer a product that is more stable over time or with a more pleasant odor, such as blueberries that do not smell particularly well in pure hydrosol," says Claire Pelé.

Each flower water has beauty virtues

Among the most famous floral waters, we can name rose water, blueberry or chamomile . While floral waters all have the property of purifying, soothing and helping to strengthen the barrier function of the skin, each has its own specificities and uses.

Thus, the combination to oily skin will turn to organic fine lavender, which rebalances, purifies and soothes, all without drying the epidermis.

Dry skins , they will opt for floral water orange blossom orange. It soothes, tones, moisturizes, softens and comforts. A real care lotion to pamper the most sensitive skin.

Claire Pelé nevertheless insists on the need to use floral water from organic cultures, since the products are then used pure and directly on the skin.

Best seller in the radius of beneficial waters, chamomile. It relieves feelings of discomfort and soothes reactive or allergic skin, thanks to the natural anti-inflammatory active it contains, azulene, which reduces redness or burns. The blondes will use it to restore radiance to the hair, because the chamomile makes it possible to revive the golden reflections and to bring light to the hair.

The rose water - probably the most famous of all - makes it possible to restore radiance to the complexion . Claire Pelé explains that it is by conducting colorimetric tests after one month of treatment that Sanoflore laboratories were able to prove to skeptics the effectiveness of rose water on the quality of the skin.
