Like last year at the Ritz, the Parade des Métiers d'Art Fall Winter 2018-2019 was part of a certain form of homecoming. But this time, it is not the story of Gabrielle Chanel that is in question, but that of his worthy successor Karl Lagerfeld , the event being held in Hamburg, his hometown.

A rigorous decor

More precisely, it was in the heart of the amphitheater of the Elbe Philharmonic that the Kaiser of Fashion had invited the usual happy few of international fashion.
The building with its modern architecture, overlooking the harbor of the Hanseatic city, offered a perfect sounding box of architecture to this new collection of marine inflection.

A marine collection

Mesh with prodigious twists and matching gaiters, decked trousers with raised turtlenecks, fluid navy total-looks or leather sailor's knuckles: the Chanel-style navy grammar is available on all the silhouettes, the famous " Elbsegler " hats. - distinctive sign of the sailors of Hamburg - adorning the hairstyles of each mannequin. Beyond the stylistic thread, Karl Lagerfeld celebrates here the great era of the port city, then very busy in the 60s.

A philharmonic orchestra

Who says Philarmonie says, inevitably, music. And what better for this show evoking the genesis of the creator that "La Paloma", famous air of the Basque Sebastian Iradier that the mother of Karl Lagerfeld seemed to particularly like, at least to believe certain guests. Performed by the orchestra conducted by Olivier Oates , the piece did not fail to give an imperial dimension to the first passages of the parade.

A Chanel family

Surrounded by familiar faces (and friends) of the double-C house - Lily Rose-Depp , Kristen Stewart, and Tilda Swinton - the podium was followed by the footsteps of Anna Ewers , Kaia Gerber and the hilarious Baptiste Giabiconi . But the guest who aroused the most reactions on social networks was undoubtedly Choupette , the pet feline to 100,000 followers also made the trip.
