Who to designate in its place?

The person who votes by proxy shall freely designate the person who will vote in his stead. This may be a member of his family , a friend or a neighbor from the moment the proxy (who votes for you) is registered in the same commune as you (not necessarily in the same polling same area) and has not received any other proxy.

Exception: the agent may receive two proxies to vote if at least one of them has been established abroad.

How to establish your proxy?

It is the one who appoints someone in his place to vote who makes the proxy (valid for a single election).

In France, the principal must report in person to the police, the police or the district court of his domicile or place of work. Abroad, the proxy is to the consulate or embassy.

You just have to present proof of identity accepted in order to vote (identity card, passport or driving license). You then complete and sign a form that can now be downloaded and printed on the French administration website.

If your state of health prevents you from traveling, you can ask that a police officer come to your home to establish the power of attorney . This exceptional request must be made in writing and accompanied by a medical certificate .

How long to establish a power of attorney?

A proxy vote may be made at any time up to the day before the election. But beware , the proxy may not be able to vote if the municipality does not receive the proxy on time .

It is therefore preferable to carry out the procedure as soon as possible . Rest assured, you are still on time !

The day of the vote

The day of the election, the agent comes equipped with its own identity (in the polling station to which the principal) and vote on the same terms as other voter s.

The agent does not receive any documents . You must warn him of the proxy you give it and the polling station where he should vote for you.
