My crown for Christmas

The magic of Christmas comes to us. Garlands, fir trees, candles ... we bring the final touch with a pretty crown. At Bergamotte and L'Occitane there are some superb ones.

This is the first thing we see when we arrive at home and, paradoxically, it is also the decorative accessory that we tend to zap. The crown, which hangs proudly at the door of home is a tradition of Christmas as we like them.

Where does the tradition come from?

The Advent wreath (or Christmas wreath) comes from Central Europe. History has it that a German pastor is at the origin of the tradition of the Advent wreath . To calm impatience in the days before Christmas, he lit a small candle every day and a bigger one every Sunday. We have retained only the 4 big candles. Traditionally made of pine or straw branches, the Advent wreath is decorated with 4 candles. Every Sunday in December, we light a candle. So, on Christmas day, the 4 candles shine. In the Christian tradition, these candles symbolize the great stages of salvation before the coming of the Messiah. Today, the tradition has spread ... without necessarily retaining all the symbolism. Exit the candles, bright flowers and leaves.

At l'Occitane , 3 talented women were called upon to design 3 crowns ... that we could afford and choose from 80 € of purchase in L'Occitane boutiques and on the website. Alix, Marie and Cécile have each imagined an exceptional crown.
