After creating his first haute couture collection in the 1970s, Jean Paul Gaultier launched perfumes in the 1990s, under the brand name Jean Paul Gaultier Parfums. You will find all the spirit of the couturier, a mixture of humor and provocation. His very first creation in this field simply bears his name: "Jean Paul Gaultier". This fragrance combines citrus, flowers and spices on a background of vanilla, cinnamon, amber and cedar wood. It will be renamed "Classic" a few years later. The original design of the bottle, shaped like a corset for women, and packaging, a kind of can, marks the spirits of the time. "The bottle is a gironde woman's body, with her breasts shaped like shells." Nothing to do with the twinkling girl "CK One", which signals "the trend of the moment", explains the marketing director of the company. the first perfume is a huge success. The bottle will be reused several times for many other creations.

The revolution "Mâle" by Jean Paul Gaultier


In 1995, Jean Paul Gaultier released "Le Mâle", created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. The concept of perfume is to "put the whole universe of Jean Paul Gaultier in a bottle". The smells of lavender, orange blossom, mint and sage, which remind the creator of the smells of the markets of his childhood, are thus very present. Result: a very fern oriental fern succeeded to take the place, in 2003, of "Eau Sauvage" of Dior, nevertheless n ° 1 of sales of male perfumes for more than forty years! The packaging, on the other hand, is the one of "Classique": a bottle in the shape of a bust, but this time man wearing a striped navy shirt. "Le Mâle" also marks the beginning of a very fruitful collaboration between the perfumer and the house Gaultier. Together they will also create "Fragile" in 1999, "Gaultier 2" in 2005, a mixed fragrance that combines white musk, vanilla, amber and cistus, or in 2007 "Fleur du Mâle", a revisited version of the "Male".

Jean Paul Gaultier, strong creations in personality


In 2008, Jean Paul Gaultier launches a new feminine perfume aimed primarily at young girls in bloom: "MaDame". On a woody background, the fresh and sparkling notes of blood orange and grenadine develop. In 2011, Olivier Cresp and Annick Menardo signed the new creation Jean Paul Gaultier: "Kokorico". On the menu: cocoa, fig leaf, cedar wood, vetiver and patchouli, in a fragrance with a strong personality that does not go unnoticed. The bottle will also be a date: it evokes on one side a bust of man, on the other a masculine face. All in a modern design in red and black. In 2013, Jean Paul Gaultier decides to update his great male classic with "Le Beau Mâle". Result: an even more tonic and torrid version, in a flask in the shape of a torso dressed in a turquoise sailor - in the purest Gaultier style!
