The different types of vacuum cleaners

Like the washing machine , the vacuum cleaner is one of the essential household appliances of the house. Carpet , sofa, curtains ... thanks to him we clean everything from floor to ceiling. But there are almost as many vacuum cleaners as there are uses:
- The traditional vacuum cleaner sled : the most sold and the most useful.
- The vacuum cleaner broom is less versatile, it is used daily as a vacuum cleaner but it is not with him that we can suck every corner of the house.
- The hand vacuum : this model is mainly used as crumbs.
- The aspiro brusher , much larger, is little used in France but much in the United States and the United Kingdom .
- The vacuum cleaner with water and dust is the darling of professionals: nothing resists him but it takes up space!

Sled vacuum cleaner, with or without bag?

The vacuum cleaner sled with bag is a bit of the genesis of the vacuum cleaner, the oldest model. For a few years, we prefer his little brother, without bag. Why ? Simply because over the course of cleaning, the dust clogs the bag and goes into the filters, which causes the loss of efficiency of the device. To optimize the suction, it would be necessary almost after each passage, to change of bag and to clean the filters very regularly. What we never do. But if the bagless vacuum cleaner is more profitable and better for the environment, the problem of clogged filters remains the same and the device eventually loses its effectiveness. Dyson is currently the only brand that offers an alternative: vacuum cleaners that can not get clogged because they are either without a filter or with a filter designed to hold the entire life of the device. An initial investment certainly (Dyson vacuum cleaner models cost between 200 and 500 € for the purchase) but whose lifespan (7 to 10 years on average) will generate, a priori, no additional expense .

Other criteria to consider when buying a vacuum cleaner

- We pay attention to the quality of the materials used . Aspirators made of low density plastic crack and break faster than those made of strong materials such as polycarbonate or ABS .
- A good vacuum cleaner must be easy to handle and stable : it must follow us easily everywhere in the house without overturning. To check it, we try it before buying it.
- We think to take a look at the warranty conditions of the product : it concerns only the motor of the vacuum cleaner or all parts, even external as the brush ?
- Attention, the number of watts is not a precise criterion: this data indicates the energy consumption of the vacuum cleaner but it is not an indicator of performance.
- We choose the brush of his vacuum cleaner according to his type of soil: a special hard floor brush if one has old parquet , a rotating brush that dislodges the dust in depth if one has carpet or animals and a classic double-sided brush if you basically have tiling.
- And if you are allergic and constantly looking for mites, dust and other household allergens, we check that the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a HEPA 13 or 14 filter.
