'Enrichir sans exploiter' is the philosophy of the British brand The Body Shop (but also the name of the program bringing together its commitments). Committed to testing cosmetic products on animals, the brand is multiplying its actions with one goal: to become the most sustainable and ethical international brand in the world .

Endangered elephants in India

The last battle begun by The Body Shop? The safeguarding of elephants in India. Indeed, if thousands of domesticated elephants are still found in Southeast Asia, in its natural environment, the animal is threatened with extinction. Yet regarded as a divinity, the number of specimens of this species keeps decreasing. In 3 generations, the number of elephants in India has thus been reduced by half. The responsibles ? Catches of wild elephants for domestic purposes, poaching of animals for their ivory or meat, and the settlement of humans, which are still encroaching on their territory and fragmenting their habitat, without reserves and national parks have sufficient areas to collect all wild pachyderms.

The Body Shop's commitment to protecting elephants from India

Aware that without the involvement of humans the elephant of India is doomed to disappear, The Body Shop has partnered with World Land Trust and Wildlife Trust of India , two organizations committed to protecting wildlife and habitat. Their objective ? Construct eco-bridges to bring together separated elephants due to deforestation related to major development projects (dams, roads and other industrial complexes).

How to participate ?

What about participating in the construction of the natural corridors to bring elephants together? Without realizing it is perhaps already done since each purchase allows to protect and regenerate 1 m 2 of eco-gateway . One more reason to remain faithful to the British brand!
