They are full of talent and make the beautiful hours of the comic strip: who are the stars of the bubbles in the feminine? After the sad controversy that marred the announcement of the nominees for the 2016 Grand Prix of the Angoulême Festival and the mea culpa shy of the organizers, the designers were finally able to compete. Especially with regard to the figures, there is a real change in the artistic environment, with a massive entry of women: 48.7% of artists-authors women among the affiliates of the Maison des Artistes in 2013. Not to mention the creation of the "collective of creators of comics against sexism" which counts 100 authors (and who rebelled against the statements of the president of the Festival of Angoulême).

So we wanted to highlight the queens of the comic strip of yesterday and today. From Claire Bretecher to Diglee, here are 10 BD authors to (re) discover as a matter of urgency.

  • Claire Bretecher

It is impossible to begin this round-up of the women who radiate in the small world of the comic strip without presenting Claire Brétecher. All her heroines (Cellulite, Agrippina) have marked several generations to the point that an asteroid bears the name of Liberated Woman *.

* It is also cited in Cookie Dingler's famous song.

  • Penelope Bagieu

Penelope Bagieu is a funny and committed writer who has made himself known to the general public with her blog "my life is quite fascinating". But the young lady did not stop there and multiplies since the projects, Joséphine (BD, adapted in film with Marilou Berry) Les Culottés (Blog LeMonde.fr honoring women who do only what they want, launched early 2016).

  • Marjane Satrapi

Scriptwriter, draftsman, painter or director: Marjane Satrapi sublimates everything she undertakes, and collects awards (since 2001). We will remember (long) of his two Caesars for Persepolis, in 2008.

  • Margaux Motin

Who has never seen a silhouette of Margaux Motin illustrate an article in a women's magazine? In addition to her blog, the illustrator has signed several comic book albums like Plate Tectonics, a sexy and thirty year-old ode.

  • Florence Cestac

Since the 1970s, Florence Cestac has multiplied projects and crafts: model maker, screenwriter, communication manager and even bookseller. Thanks to amusing stories and fantastic characters, Florence Cestac has managed to make a place in the sun on the comic planet.

  • Diglee

Maureen Wingrove aka Diglee is part of this new generation of brush-free authors (and clichés about comics in the feminine). She decrypts the news on her blog and signs albums BD (sometimes even her real name as the album "To Renaud: Georges Soichot").

  • Aimee of Jongh

Thanks to his delicate technique, Aimee de Jongh makes us travel regularly in space and time. The illustrator-screenwriter is part of this amazing new wave, which multiplies projects and colorful surprises. To discover: his album "Le retour de la Bondrée".

  • Aude Picault

Like her companions, Aude Picault is one of those women who illuminate comics in the feminine. Author of many albums, the young woman is not afraid to dare. We love the mini albums "Moi Je" and "Moi Je et Caetera": two odes anti-complexes to devour without further delay.

  • Louise Joor

The last author and designer to be honored: Louise Joor or the breath of fresh air of the comic strip. The young woman - who had released the album Kanopé in 2014 - recently launched a saga "Neska, the clan of the ivy" whose first album is on sale now.

  • Julie Maroh

To conclude this top 10 (not exhaustive): place Julie Maroh. This artist is, among others, the author of "Le bleu est une couleur chaude", an album that inspired "La vie d'Adèle".
